Yes, this is how I got hurt. I honestly thought I knew what I could do, but I was wrong, and I didn't have any plan for what would happen if I slipped. (Sitting out for two months with a broken elbow isn't a plan, it's a catastrophe).

ouch. hang in there and get well soon! take your time so youre 100% when you get back.

that feet swinging aspect is definitely one to consider. not to mention meatlad dislocated his shoulder on a lache.

same thing for me when i hurt my back - i thought i had an escape route, but sometimes things happen in an instant, and you hesitate for an instant and then its game over.

hopefully others can learn from this!

"Hang in there" you say. I tried, I say!

I totally agree with you though: feet swinging with marginal handgrip = bad.

ooo... that fall blows. In fact, i did the same thing a little over 2 years ago. It was a balcony cat leap. So i didn't have anything to stabilize myself against with my feet. (so just like yours) and i hyper extended my elbow... but i walked away alright. I only couldn't train for about 4 weeks.

Get better, and learn from it!

Oh man :( that's bad times. Hope you get better without complications.

Also emphasizes the importance of learning to fall well, always be ready for a slip.

Everyone should take ju-jitsu! Ouch! If your not taking calcium make sure to do that and drink your milk! Also look into comfrey, I have heard it works miracles! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfrey (if you end up trying it out don't overuse it because abuse of it can lead to liver toxicity)

Rule #1: If something bad happens.. DON'T STOP FILMING!

Everything I've made a mistake, people stopped rolling, So frustrating.

One upside to keep filming is you can reflect back from a third point of view to see how you made your mistake. Sometimes you don't fully understand everything you did wrong from your point of view.

Ouch, get well soon!!

Having looked at this, it struck me that when we train with someone else we should consider taking advantage of that and 'spot' each other. The one thing you can't do when training solo. It may look silly to constantly shadow each other -- but well worth it if it prevents injuries, I say. And, easy enough to do once you get into the habit...

Cheers,

Yowzahs! A quick recovery to you, my friend. That happened to me once too. I was hanging on a ledge trying to do a muscle up to climb up top, but I swung too much, and *plop*. Luckily, the only thing badly bruised was my ego. My butt hurt for weeks though. haha

This is bordering on me just begging for sympathy, but I have to make sure everyone knows that by injuring yourself you also severely hurt your chances with the ladies:

However, it may increase your chances of hooking up with a zombie.

Wow, how did you hurt your eye? Did you bang your face into your shoulder or something?

Adroit

From what I can tell from the video I banged my face into the concrete =P

I'M NOT JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE
(but I wouldn't mind it if I was)

Ouch dude... that looks like it hurt reeeal bad!

Get better! Yeah, often when we get hurt it's not some big epic move but the basic ones we've done 1000 times and you're just not thinking something could go seriously wrong. I'm glad except for your banged up eye you got no big head injuries.

And good luck with those zombie chicks, I hear they put out for brains.
