Okay, we all now the many benefits of training with others.
Now. Who's going where in 2009? Anyone traveling specifically for parkour? Who's going to national jams? Who's got a van and wants to drive to LA, Portland, Seattle or anywhere on the freaking planet for a little PK?
Can I come too?

Hey brett... You can start with coming to tuolumne to train with me ^.^.
I'm down too and can pitch in for gas and stuff. As long as it's over the summertime.

Ooooh.... Good point!!!
Adroit and I talked about doing a summer PK tour of our beautiful state. Hitting all the NorCal SFPK affiliated places: Chico, Sac, Tuolumne, Murphy's, Santa Cruz, then heading to LA, San Diego, etc. I'd really love to hop on a plane to Seattle or Colorado though. I have family both places, though I'm not sure they'd let me stay with them.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with training at home if we have to.

The nationa jam is in colorado late summer. Plan it so by the time we finish with cali we greyhound it to colorado for the national jam in boulder colorado? THat would be one hell of a trip!

Sweet! It would be awesome to have some NorCal brethren come visit! I'll probably be in Chico early this year and I'm dying to visit the Bay Area. I haven't been to San Fransisco since I was a baby!
Anybody have info on all the national jams coming up?

We're gonna be staying in San Diego when we come down, so when that's happening I'll let you know and you can get together with some of us from SacPK. :D

Yeah Lonnie, get up here! Come before March 20th, that's when I'm going to Japan. I hope COPK is late enough that I'll be back from Japan in time! I'd love to go again, it was rockin' last year. And a big SPFK vanpool would be hilariously great, we should rent a van and then get a huge SFPK sticker/poster/magnet to put on the side of it.
Oh, and Beretta, if your family won't let you stay with them you can always bum some floor space from a fellow traceur :) It's all about community, baby!

Alright guys....
Crazy? Yes.
Brilliant? Yes.
Let's rent a RV this summer & do an SFPK California Tour. Like a rock band. We'll pick up people along the way & visit as many California parkour communities as we can.
If we all chip in & camp & cook our own food, etc. I think we can stuff enough people in an RV to make it cheap, cheap, cheap.
Zack Weldon
01-15-2009, 09:46 PM
Ya dude! Oh man This would/will be great!
along with the big SFPK decal on the side of the rv we can put my face... you know to get all the traceuses to join us in the rv. lol!

I would freakin love to, but I don't quite think my rents would be cool with that haha.

Convince them. Start now, you might have them convinced by the summer. Seriously!
We could lump it in with the COPK jam; travel around for a week all over California, then make the drive toward CO.

i think some of those spots were at ucla. also, in some of the vids they are at the santa monica pier near the promenade and venice beach, near muscle beach

I do have to say, at the end of the trip that RV would smell awful!!!!! A dozen traceurs stuck in a tin can for a week!
Ha!!!
Okay, someone research cost of renting an RV for a week. I don't have internet at home or I'd do it.
Adroit
01-16-2009, 09:51 PM
Unfortunately the max number of passengers is 7, at least the site I looked at. For a week its looking to be around $2200 for just the RV.

Max passengers != max capacity :P

if ppl are serious enough we can try to save up money for this thing and actually make it happen. i would guess the price range per person would be$200-$400? i think the trip would be worth the cost.
you have to factor in gas and food also tho :/

Someone suggested we check up on vans...
Beretta
01-20-2009, 02:40 PM
Got a quote for a 15 passenger van rental for 5 days: Thursday August 20 to Tuesday August 25. $645.00
And the company purchases carbon offsets to make our trip Carbon Neutral (leave no trace anybody?)
This would be a great option for a group trip to Colorado for the national jam.
I think we could get enough people on board to make it worthwhile. By the way, the van (http://www.bandago.com/vehicles.php) looks pretty sweet.
Beretta
01-20-2009, 02:45 PM
According to this site (http://www.tripcalculator.org/) we should expect to pay around $600.00 for gas at 10 m.p.g. and gas costing $3.00 a gallon.
Bringing total trip transportation cost estimate to $1245.00.
So if we don't eat and we sleep in the van COPK national jam for 125.00 or less!!!!

as i told Beretta at the monthly, id personally put up some $$ to "sponsor" this, at least $200 if not more, and would do a big costco run with a few of you and get yall sorted on waters, snacks etc. would love to have as many SFPK members as possible rep at the national jam!

So you could do that or get some people with cars to drive and caravan. Or rent them. I think you should totally do this, and I'd definitely drive up to join you guys somewhere for part of it (or all if it was just a 3-day thing).
Brett, plan a tentative route!
Another option is the Green Tortoise. I just got back from a 15-day trip to Mexico with them and it's a ton of fun. They have trips all over the US, and if you get enough people you can even charter a bus.
http://www.greentortoise.com/budget.adventure.travel.html#california
Basically their deal is that they have this massive bus with bunks and padded sleeping areas and they take backpacker-types all over. They also have hostels in SF and Seattle, and are pretty affordable. Brett if you can't get enough people to justify renting an RV, or it's just too complicated, this may fit the bill.

Okay.
Who is seriously interested? Seriously interested means you would go no matter what, even if you were injured, because you love Parkour so f-in much you'll come up with at least $300-400 to pay for food, gas, van rental. (I imagine it might cost quite a bit less, it all depends on what & how much we eat, etc.).
When there are at least ten people who are going for sure, I'll book a van.
Who's going?

If the time is right, I love parkour so f-in much I'd do it. Won't be back from Japan until 8-9.

Well, we could always leave Thursday night or Friday morning and drive all night, even if it's the first week of school we should make it okay.
Beretta

Hooray. We've got a group of devotees...
Okay, if I'm correct, so far the seriously interested are:
Palu, Benny, Lethal, Zack, Adroit & Beretta.
The date isn't out there yet, so some may drop off. The good news so far is that we'd fit in a minivan if we needed to. If someone was willing to, we could do that and save the cost of renting a van. In fairness we should all give the vehicle owner money to help offset the maintanence costs of the journey.
ok lemme look at my scheduale for then and ill let you know asap... if i dont have naything im for sure in!!

I'd like to do a mostly wilderness multi-day trip up north via amtrak this summer for training and fun. Might be Northern Cali, maybe Oregon, or even Washington. I've never been to any of those, and I've never been to Canada! AHHA! CANADA! BANFF! YAYAH!
I might just have to run and hike there.
Someday.
