3RUN is raising money for charity, and I think it would be nice if the SFPK members could show their support to the less fortunate.

About the charity : Waterford School Trust Waterford School Trust
This site is currently dedicated to fundraising for one of Waterford’s most important Community Service projects.

“Ward 8” at Mbabane Hospital, Swaziland, accommodates abandoned children - some HIV-positive, many disabled. We are now engaged in the challenge of creating local foster homes.

Great cause!

Hey Bob, are you going to run in the Susan G. Komen 5k with us in Sacramento? It's May 9, 2009. Check this thread. (http://www.sfparkour.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2413)

Also, several of us are thinking about running the SF Marathon, July 26, 2009 for charity as well. There's a ton of great causes and running for charity sponsorship is a great way to get people involved.

Thanks for posting this!

How much you give isn't what matters.

In the tradition of the Chinese Philosopher Lao-Tzu (604 BC - 531 BC), he states "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

We can apply this to the concept that if every person in the United States gave just $1 to charity, over $300,000,000 ($300 million) would be accumulated.

I know it is cliche to say, but you can make a difference!

Unfortunately my wife and I will be in Vegas for our anniversary on May 9, 2009 during the Susan G. Komen 5k :tear:

Concerning the SF Marathon...wow, I have never ran a Marathon, I don't think I have the endurance at this point. How many miles is a marathon? ...I am genuinely interested, and I do have a few months to get into shape.

Anyway, let me know...maybe we can talk more about it at the monthly jam in Santa Rosa?

I received a message from Sam today, so I wanted to pass it on:

"Just wanted to really emphasise the gratitude towards the support you SFPK guys have sent for the Ward 8 charity.

Really appreciate it!
1 love "

Another great opportunity to improve the lives of others!

As some have mentioned on this thread, we're always looking to do more charitable stuff, so keep it coming and let us know how we can help. The next thing after Komen is the trail restoration at the Bunkers, on 5/16.

Next monthly jam (Santa Rosa) I will be taking up a cumulative collection to be given to the Waterford School Trust in the name of SFPK as a group donation.

As I mentioned before, even $1 from each person would be awesome. Let's show our support and generosity to those less fortunate.

Okay guys, time to dust off the wallets and break into the piggy banks.

SFPK will be taking donations for the 3RUN WARD8 Charity this Sunday. Your donations will be publicized from SFPK as a group, so I encourage each and everyone of you to bring something.

Earlier it was mentioned that even one dollar helps the cause (but more would be appreciated). The positive cause and effect of doing good deeds and being philanthropic can impact the world for greater good. Imagine if everyone was giving of their time and money, what would the world be like?

Be thankful for your health and the life you have, and show your thanks by supporting philanthropic efforts with your donations and your time. I look forward to meeting those I have not met yet, and encourage you to say hi! See you all this Sunday!

Bob
