I'll start from today (6/10/09).

Didn't do much training today. Mainly because I was sore from the usuall conditioning sessions on Mondays at the Berkeley campus. They sure have some good exercises. I really enjoyed them, especially because they envolved some technique, which I think makes it fun and a more optimal way of conditioning yourself. So, back to what I've done today. About 5 blocks away from my apartment there is a swimming pool which is located at the Rossi Park (corner of Anza St. and Arguello St.). Did about 30 laps of swimming with different styles (i.e., free style, under water dolphin thing, backwards on the back, and frog style). And at the end I did 6 minutes of floating at the same place. Everything took about an hour. In any case, had a good time swimming, definitely helped me with my soreness - highly recommend doing it often.

By the way if some of you live close to Rossi Park and wants to join, please post.

Hey Andrey,

Rossi Pool is right down the street from my house! I live at McAllister & Stanyan, so I could probably join you in the evening sometime if you ever do the lap swims at night.

On a completely unrelated-to-swimming-note . . . I will be taking a 4-weekend-long Capoeira workshop on Saturday mornings, so I won't be able to make it to Saturday conditioning sessions at Mountain Lake Park (6/27-7/18) but I should still be able to come to the one on 6/20 (if you are still doing it that day). Let me know. Thanks!

That's great! (that you're doing Capoeira)

I'll sure will post if the conditioning on 6/20 is cancelled.

I'm glad that I did too. Great way to empty the head from all the thoughts of the day and share it with people.:sfpkvault:

6/15/09

On Saturday, after a great beginner's class near the Ferry building, Azat, Alex, and I went on a 7 hour bike ride to San Rafael.
http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=San+Rafael,+CA&geocode=CcvKucYpsg3sFSuoQwIdKmOy-A&dirflg=&saddr=722+Clement+St,+San+Francisco,+CA+94118&f=d&hl=en&sll=37.997515,-122.527084&sspn=0.139875,0.30899&ie=UTF8&ll=37.874311,-122.475586&spn=0.280218,0.617981&t=h&z=11
The link doesn't show exactly the way we rode, but it's somewhat close. In any case, it was a great, fun, and brutal way to get endurance training. After so much riding, lol, it was heaven pulling those bike sits out of our asses when we arrived back home.

Did 70 pull-ups, 100m cat-walking, 10 wall flips, and a 100m "drop, push-up, legs move close to the hands, and so forth." After went to a Judo class, which happens every Tuesdays and Thursdays, and had a good practice there. In addition, the guy at the Judo class is a photographer and he has an agent. He knows that I'm interested in stunt work, so he said he could help me out finding an agent too :). He said he has some connections. Hope he'll help. Anyways, had pretty good day today.

No, not the ccsf Judo. I go to this place called Martial Arts.......etc., which is located on 21st ave. between Clement St. and Geary st. (closer to Geary St.). They charge $60 for a month. Pretty good deal.

School started a few weeks ago. Was going to take two classes, Film History and English 93. But after a week I felt that it was too much really. Both classes required to write Essays every other day. Thus, I decided to get rid of Film History class and stick with English 93. I feel like I have to take a lot of Englsih classes before I sign up for History, Biology, and similar classes that require to write a lot.

Thereby, I haven't been able to have a descent training for several days already. But, I am planning to start going to Berkeley gym on Mondays and Wednesdays.

By the way, about the film project that I did with my classmate. Because it has a lot of music in it, youtube won't give permission to post it. However, there must be some other way to share it with ya'll, so as soon as we'll find it, I'll post it here.

For the video, try Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/).

Also... why Monday and Wednesday at UCB? Two days I can't possibly make? LOL. Maybe you can squeeze in a Thursday or I can make a Monday at least once this summer.

As far as school, I'm incredibly impressed with anyone who completes high school or college work in a second language. You rock. It's hard work, but it will pay off.

try cutting a few seconds from the beginning and end of each song, and then compress the audio of the video together into one track, then render the whole video, that might be enough to get by detection.

We've tried VIMEO, but unfortunately it is only possible to upload files that are less then 500mb. Well, at least that what my classmate, Andrea, told me.

About the Berkeley gym. I can go only on Mondays and Wednesdays because I've got Judo class on Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm. But I might skip a class several times, so there is a chance I'll see you in a gym.

That school's hard work is already kind of paying off. I now know more vocabulary words than I did before, so pretty happy about that.

Don't think that would help. Have you done it before?

it should work. i think youtube can detect complete songs in a video, but if you flatten all the audio into one track, it probly wouldnt get muted.

It's finally here! The vid that I had to do for the film class at CCSF.

I'm going to disarm you guys, the acting in the video sucks very much. lol Just kidding, but seriously it's not so great, although I am in process of making it better. Every day before I take shower I look at the mirror and........yeah, ACT!! In any case, hope y'all enjoy it.

How did you like the dance part?

Adroit
07-11-2009, 10:51 PM
The only thing I could tell about the dancing was that it was very coordinated and far beyond my ability; however, I guess I know I'm a traceur because I was just waiting for the dance part to be over so I could see more parkour action :happysad:

I really liked the shot from the car - until I could tell it was a car because the side mirror was in the shot :fingersx: I also really liked the shot revolving around you talking on your cell phone.

Great work Andrey!

yeah, good job, but there are some points that really bothers me.

1. too much static shots
2. the chick dancing with the old dude was just uncomfortable
3. the back and forth jumps between you and her makes it appears that the 2 events are connected, yet they are in fact not.
4. your coat got toilet germs all over it!! lol

i think your acting was pretty decent, a bit stiff tho. but otherwise intertaining, the movie was sort of like

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith"

In response to Benny, to start...

1. With how much motion there is with all the dancing and running, without the static shots, it would feel erratic and uncoordinated, from a filming perspective.
2. matter of opinion
3. They are entirely connected! Both of those sequences are depicting the characters doing their jobs, which the other doesn't know about. Andrey is doing his PK running away because of his job, and the girl is dancing so she can kill the guy, as a part of her job. It's showing a parallel. Directly connected, no, but related, without a doubt.
4. ...

Anyway, I loved it Andrey. I think the dancing went on a bit long as my only true critique. But, that's probably because I'm a traceur haha. Your acting was fine dude, don't worry. I'm sure you'll get better anyway. And besides, we're all our own worst critics.

Hey Andrey,
GREAT chase scene! The shot through the fence was brilliant. I liked the effect of seeing the motion through the wire, it kind of had that strobe-effect to it. Also, the front flip down the flight of stairs was incredible and the kong over the car was totally amazing. Nice work! Very 007 . . . crossed with a hint of Mr.&Mrs.Smith.

I thought the video was very well-made and interesting. Your running scenes were awesome. The dancing scenes were kinda too long for me and the old guy and young woman really threw me off from the overall tone of the film. The acting was okay, but I know you'll get better at it with more practice. Cool use of music!

Thanks for the comments guys.
This whole thing was a huge conundrum, I almost died editing it, lol. Me and my partner had to finish about 50% of it on the night before the day it was due. We didn't do a great job on it that night, but at least we got an A, so that really made our day. Then of course we tweaked it a bit and now it looks much better.

Glad some of you enjoyed it.

Just watched the movie, "Peaceful Warrior," and couldn't miss the opportunity to share it with you guys. There is a book as well (a bit of a difference in the title, "Way of the Peaceful Warrior), which, as you all know, a better start for getting to know the story. Anyhow, I really recommend this story, especially to young folks as myself. And by the way, the story, as I recall, is based on true events, so, it's that much inspiring.
