This is my first Parkour/Freerunning sampler. I have been meaning to film one, but whenever I would start to film, I wouldn't like what I captured, delete it, and train instead. This time I am forcing myself to put a video up. How can I progress if I don't even know what I look like? So, I filmed this, not trying to "impress", but rather, as I naturally would practice Parkour. My goal was to keep this short and simple - you don't get many obstacles living in the suburbs anyways.

My first opinion is WOW, I see some bad habits. Right off the bat it my body positioning. I seem hunched at parts of the video. Second, the flow isn't that great. Some of the rail flow was choppy because I was doing vaults on a rail too low for me, but I should be able to fix that. I also stutter step at times. My running stride should be more natural and wider. Third, I am not giving it 100% power and speed. When I am actually practicing, it seems like I am going fast, but viewing it in 3rd person, it is slow...what's up with that?

Constructive criticism is appreciated...technique, filming, editing...anything related to this video.
Time for more practice!

Yeah...need to work on speed+flow...

The problem I have with other people filming is that it never turns out the way I want it to...or I just don't describe how I want it filmed well enough...

Maybe spend more time on getting a good position if I film by myself. In parts my upper body is cut out.

 keep up the good work! keep thinking flow and transitions, not so much moves, and itll help with smoothing out your footwork so you dont stutter step as much. but good stuff!

Long time no see Corndogg...how have you been?

Thank you for the advice! Never thought in terms of transitions, specifically. I've been thinking more along the lines of "general" flow...but transitions are very important. Maybe that's a piece of what I am missing.

I posted it in your training log, so check it out over there. For consolidation's sake, the main point was take longer strides.

Yes, thank you!

Definitely need to work on more natural strides...

Hey Haku! Good work, man! Remember, although videos are great for critiquing yourself, no need to be overly critical, since most of the parkour "sampler" videos you see online are more like highlight reels of their best moves, and not necessarily how they look on a normal basis. With that said, your stuff is still pretty good! Keep it up!

Hi Ronin! It was nice meeting you at that San Jose jam!

I guess I feel like I should be because I've been practicing for awhile and feel I should have at least surpassed the stutter step problem. I'm glad I put the video up.

It is true about samplers being highlights of best footage...I guess I should take it a little easier...

Thank you for the response!
