Mozez
06-28-2007, 06:00 PM
oh, are you an 8th grader/incoming freshman?
and i don't really talk to g-luck. but yeah, we both go to tam.
i wish there was a gym minors could go to to practice. my house is really small and i have a downstairs neighbor, so i can't do anything.

2nd Chance
06-29-2007, 11:17 AM
yup incoming freshmen.

i kno! im so sick of all these age restrictions!!! agh!!!!

as well as there not being any gyms in marin we could practice in anyway... well see.

NoSole
06-29-2007, 01:05 PM
Have you ever looked for one? I know there's a gym in Novato, which is only about 15-20 min away (which, ironically is way closer to you than Berkeley is to me! Haha!)

Mozez
06-29-2007, 03:38 PM
Really? Do you have any more information on that gym, NoSole?

NoSole
06-29-2007, 04:52 PM
Ask and ye shall receive!

Novato Gymnastics Center (http://www.ci.novato.ca.us/sports/Gymnastics.cfm)

I know Crossfit sometimes does classes there and they have PK classes as well, but I'm not sure how current that data is. This is a fucking sweet facility, and it's huge! You should def try to make it up there if you can. Your best bet is to call up and find out when they have open gym.

Mozez
06-30-2007, 08:43 AM
Thanks! I'll look into it. I would hella need to find someone to come along, though. Unless they do have those PK classes.

2nd Chance
07-09-2007, 06:49 PM
il come!!!

NoSole
07-10-2007, 09:52 AM
Yeah, I actually don't know if they still do the PK classes. That issue came a few months ago when people on APK were concerned they were teaching improper technique. So I can't exactly endorse their methods, but if you have no other option it's better than nothing.

2nd Chance
07-10-2007, 03:10 PM
i didnt see an open gym either...???

NoSole
07-11-2007, 03:34 PM
Like I said before... pick up the phone, call them, and ask.

2nd Chance
07-11-2007, 04:37 PM
good point.

Mozez
07-14-2007, 02:05 PM
i found out one of my friends it taking PK classes there, so yeah, they still have it. i'll probably have more info on it next week, because i asked my friend to give me details.
sorry i haven't been on in a while. summer school mixed with five random consecutive injuries isn't very fun.

NoSole
07-14-2007, 03:08 PM
Let us know how it turns out. I'm always interested on how people teach and how effective they are. Kinda wanna go there and act like a noob just so I can see what they are doing. I'd rather not go in there with them knowing what I can do... it always changes how they teach you and eliminates the objectivity. What are the details? I may just show up.

2nd Chance
07-14-2007, 07:07 PM
sweet! id totally go.

Mozez
07-17-2007, 07:17 PM
My friend got a packet for me about it, but he keeps forgetting to bring it with him, but I was able to find out today that the lessons are Tuesday, Thursday, and I think Sunday nights from 8:30 to 10:00 or something like that. I'm trying really hard to convince my parents to let me go to it, but living in Mill Valley, it's hard to talk people into taking you to Novato and back three days a week. I might just end up taking the bus, if I can get my parents past the whole "If you mess up, you can hurt yourself very badly" thing first.

Mozez
07-17-2007, 07:24 PM
I went back to the novato gym site, and I found out a little more about the class. It says:
"CrossFit Parkour/Street Stunts Class: Beg./Int./Adv. Ages 5-12, 13-95 y/o
An exuberant combination of free running and stunt-man style tricks, this class will teach you to move through your environment fluidly and acrobatically."
It's not much, but at least it's something.

2nd Chance
07-17-2007, 09:35 PM
well if we get good on our own we may just become teachers! lol

im actually considering this. i very well might go, once i get back from my trip.

Mozez
07-26-2007, 09:19 PM
first i've got to get my mom to remember what parkour is, because i swear, every time i talk about it, i need to describe it to her again.
i'm like "oh, blablabla parkour" and then she's like "what? what's that?" and then i tell her about the class that i've been talking to my parents about for weeks, and she's still clueless.
in other news, i saw parkour in a K Swiss commercial today.

2nd Chance
08-04-2007, 11:17 AM
haha i hear ya on the parent thing... sorry ive been gone. im back now, for good. at least for a long time. we'll see about the class...? im basically saying yes, if my mom says ok.

2nd Chance
08-04-2007, 11:20 AM
actually, i just looked at the site again, and i see nothing about a pk class. mozez, can u clearify?

my bad 'gain about the long wait for a reply alex.

Hello Marinians, er, uh Marinites? Marinades? Mariners? I like that one, Mariners, almost like Namor.....

Uh, anyway, tally-ho, cheers, salutations and otherwise merry greetings from Santa Rosa! Saying hello and inviting y'all to come up this-a-way if ya wanna. That's pretty much it.

Word.

pyromike

Alex you dont need to tell me over the website we live in the same freakin house

Beretta
07-18-2008, 02:19 PM
We should seriously get some North Bay unity going on. If a few of us from Santa Rosa come down, can you take us to all the good spots?

2nd Chance
07-18-2008, 11:03 PM
O_O good spots? hm... can you guys drive? lol. yeah, but it'd have to be a traveling affair.

Beretta
07-19-2008, 03:34 AM
A traveling affair, eh? Well, one of the guys has a station wagon, if he's down we could pile into that and hit a few spots. Are there any spots clustered together? I know that from my apartment in Santa Rosa I can walk out the door and go from place to place and hit a spot every few blocks. Anything comparable in San Rafael? Like a few downtown plazas within a mile of a school?

Anyway, I'll hit up the crew and see if next weekend (7/26-27) or sooner might work for us. Would that be good for y'all?

2nd Chance
07-19-2008, 11:25 AM
um, I'm actually gone this week and the next. however, check this out: http://www.crossfitmarin.com/

there's a phone number in there, ask for neal, set up a jam with him one of those weekends. seperate from crossfit, as your own thing. I'm sure he'd be down.

im up here. i live in Nicasio and work at the Crossfit Gym teaching Parkour. Alot of stuff in Marin is far apart. So unless you are jamming in downtown San Rafael, everything should be driven to.

there is going to be a BAPK Sunday Beginners Jam in San Rafael pretty soon so check that out.

2nd Chance
03-11-2010, 04:10 PM
Yo, I train in Marin all the time. There's actually a pretty good group here, just not very active on the forum (I'm more or less the Marin ambassador). I'll pm you some details.
